Default wage increases in NC

I have worked with my current employer for almost two years now. We were all told that we would have yearly evaluations and raises. But still now evaualluations or raises. This is a new startup company(2.5 years old). Furthermore, since being hired or 401K matcthing has been nearly cut in half and our annual retirment deposit has been discarded. Are merit increases required our are we at the mercy of the man.

The only time increases are required by law is if you are making minimum wage and the minimum wage increases.

I don't believe it is illegal for the employer to suspend or change 401(k) matching contributions, although I'm sure Beth or cbg will correct me if I'm wrong. Same with the annual retirement contributions

Sounds like this company overestimated how well they would do and overcommitted.

It's not illegal, in the sense that there is no law saying it cannot be done. However, the plan document has to allow for changes, before changes can be made. So it depends on what the plan document says.

Of course, they're allowed to change the plan document.
