hello,i work in pennsylvania and was wondering if my employer is required to give me any rest breaks or lunch breaks.

Not unless you are a seasonal farmworker. With that sole exception, PA law does not require any breaks of any kind.

Thats not true. Unless it was changed recently, Pa. labor law does require that you get a break every four hrs. They do not have to be paid breaks but they do have to give you breaks.

First of all, this thread is from 2005.

archer6831, there is a bill in the state legislature to require breaks. It has not passed.

If the employer indicates on their company policy that state and local laws take precedence over the company policy regarding lunch breaks does this mean that they cannot force you to take a lunch break? thank you

Next time, please start your own thread.
No, employers can require you to take a break whether the law does or not. The law does not prohibit breaks; it just does not require them. It is up to the employer whether to require them or not. |
