Ok. here is the thing I am or was a Supervisor and have been for over 2 years without any complaints or reviews saying that i am not doing a good job. and the other day the hr guy and my boss call me in the hr office and tell me when i get back from my vac. which i am taking because my sister is having a baby and lives far away and they are not happy about that i will be going back the floor making almost 2 bucks and hour less than i make now.when i asked why they had some bull about me not being a good leader (funny thing they never mention it in the two years that i have been supervising granted the boss is a change but until just recently he couldn't brag enough about my ablilites)All of the people on the floor love me and would rather have me as a supervisor than Anyone else.I was just so out of the blue, i think they know that i will quit before i go back to the floor. but the real kicker is that my boyfriend maint.guru and before i even told him about it my boss had already went and tolod him about it only the reason given to him was he just couldn't do anything with me. iS This a legal matter??? I jsut feel like my boss have being picking on me and that they have no groundes for demoting me other than my poor typing skill but luckily my job never required me to type. please help

iS This a legal matter??? No. While it's unfortunate you weren't advised of any performance deficiencies previously so you had an opportunity to try and correct those, no laws require an employer to do so. If they wish to demote you because they don't feel you are performing adequately in the job, they may do so. I know this is small consolation but they could have terminated you just as easily.

but the real kicker is that my boyfriend maint.guru and before i even told him about it my boss had already went and tolod him about it That's not illegal and I can understand why they did so. It sounds like your BF is a very valuable employee and they don't want to lose him. Consequently, they're trying to proactively manage things with him in anticipation that he might be upset to find out you'd been demoted.

Question

isn't their some kind of law against discussing employee matters with anyone other than the employee and the hr guy or something such as that. I know that as a supervisor we are not allow to discuss an employees situtation with anyone other than the person involved and uppermanagement. some kind of privacy act it would seem. my bf is not even in the same dept. and my boss has should have no business telling him things that had don't directly involve him. he does not even have the same boss.??????????Is thier no rights for employees to protect what we work so hard to acheive and no right to keep people from broadcasting our personal information to who ever they feel like telling at the time???

No. While it obviously wouldn't be a good employee relations move, if a manager wants to get on the PA system and share an employee's personal business with one and all, he may do so.

I know that as a supervisor we are not allow to discuss an employees situtation with anyone other than the person involved and uppermanagement. some kind of privacy act it would seem. Nope. What you describe is sound management practice, not anything required by any laws.

my bf is not even in the same dept. and my boss has should have no business telling him things that had don't directly involve him. he does not even have the same boss.?????????? While I can understand why you are upset, I also understand why the company felt they needed to explain to your boyfriend what was taking place and why.

Is thier no rights for employees to protect what we work so hard to acheive and no right to keep people from broadcasting our personal information to who ever they feel like telling at the time??? They didn't broadcast your personal business to whomever they felt like it. They had a private word with your boyfriend who was also an employee because they felt it was appropriate to do so.
