Exclamation hateful boss

I began working for a company 3 1/2 years ago, and at the time needed job

desperatly, because I was a single mother. A friend of mine helped me get

the job, but told me not to stay there long, just stay there until I found

something else. My friend told me to watch out for the Customer Service

Manager, that she was controlling and kneiving. Needless to say, I stayed

there way too long, and under went alot of mental turmoil with this lady.

When I first began working there, we had a General Manager who was the

one who originally hired me on. Occasionally I would have to miss work due

to my children being sick, they are age 5 and 9. He would understand, and

never would give me grief for missing work. One day, some employees were

up around my desk and the customer service manager was up there, too.

They were discussing employees who make up stuff to get out of coming to

work. All of a sudden she said, "I think we have an employee here who lies

about her children being sick, just to get out of work, that is horrible, I

wouldn't lie about my child being sick, I would just call and tell my work that

I am going to take the day off to have fun", I know she did'nt say my name,

but I knew she was talking about me.

Among the many unwork related things she made me do for her such as

asking me to make to fill up her cup of coffee, not once, but 3 different times,

asking me to make copies of the warranty for her car, and many other

unwork favors, such as telling her husband when he called, that she would

call him right back and told me to tell him the traffic conditions. Also, her

daughter was 21 years old and would call the office at least 5 times a day,

and if the customer service manager was on her phone, I would take a

message, and the daughter would ask me to tell her that she made it to

work-- EVERYDAY.

When I did miss work, the day that I would come back, she would be very

short with me, or just flat out ignore me all day(keep in mind, I did the

majority of her work, which meant I had to come to her for the work). Often

times, I would be in the copy room, and she would be in her office whispering,

I dont know why you have to whisper so much in a work environment.

Another occasion, I had taken my vacation and even filled out a vacation

slip- with the amount of days that I would be taking off, and I had the slip

approved. When I came back from vacation, I couldn't find my time card, and

she said, "Could you come in my office, I have your time card, and we are

not paying you for one of your days off, because you didn't tell me about it,

and if you dont like it, then you can just leave and come back on Thursday

and see if you still have a job". I didn't get paid for one day of my vacation.

She also wrote me up a warning for that, and made me sign it. I couldn't do

anything, I needed the job, because I am a single mother trying to do

everything on my own, with no help from the children's father, or no help

from anyone else. She was very hateful to me about the whole ordeal, and I

wanted to walk out, but I couldn't, I had babies to feed. So, I swallowed my

pride, and kept working, everyday doing her work. That is what I dont

understand, I never did anything to this woman, but be nice to her, do her

work, screen her calls, fill in for her when she went on vacation or took a day

off-- I just dont understand.

The icing on the cake was one week ago, I had to take off on a Thursday,

due to my daughter being sick, and had just found out that my grandma had

stage 4 cancer. I called the customer service manager, and told her on her

voicemail that morning what all was going on. The next day, I went in to

work, and she didn't ask about my daughter, or my grandmother, all she said

was, " SO nice to see that you decided to join us today, next time you

decide to take off, you had BETTER talk to me in person, I dont want to hear

your voice on my voicemail!", and she said this in a very hateful tone, and

then she walked off. I sat at my desk, and thought how I had been so nice

to her, inspite of her cruelty to me, and I thought how I had put in 3 1/2

years with this company, and I thought about my babies.

I went to the human resource lady and got my check and told her that I

couldnt handle it anymore and I quit. The reason I never went to the owner

of the company, was because I knew how she brown nosed him, and how

close those two were. The owner of the company pretty much let her have

domain over every department in that company. I had seen it too many times

before- employees would try to talk to him, but nothing was

ever accomplished.

Now, I am unemployeed, but relieved that I dont have to put up with her

being rude and mean to me. IS there ANYTHING I can do about this woman?

I do know for a fact, that she has ran other receptionist off, too. PLEASE

HELP WITH ANY FACTS OR INFORMATION.

Thank You,
Unemployed single mother

Could you put some paragraphs and white space in your post? This is VERY hard to read and, to tell you the truth, will discourage some people from even trying. It did me.
