Selling Building/ Broward Co. Florida

I rent an apt. in a 5 unit building. Tenants have lived in the building from 6 months to up to over 10 yrs. We are on month-to-month basis. Nobody has a "lease" per se. The landlord has always been a very nice, responsible guy and we all pay our rent in time and take care of the building. Last month the landlord informed us he had hired a company to manage the building. And about a week ago we found big "For Sale" signs in front of the building. The building most prob. will be demolished to make room for new townhomes. Our question is: how much notice is the landlord/new owner required to give us to vacate the building? And let's say the landlord/new owner gives us a 60 day notice, do we still have to pay rent for those 60 days? What if the new owner decides to raise the rent? Are we at the mercy of the new owner because we are on a month-to-month basis? We like our building and neighborhood and hate the idea of having to move, but we need to be ready for anything... thanks in advance.

Some options

1) Read your leases as they should tell you the amount of notice that you must receive before being made to move and also should tell you the lease term and notice requirements if lease is not being renewed

2) Maybe the tenants should check into converting the building into condos or townhomes, getting an attorney, filing papers to become an association, buying the building, then the association or the seller selling units to the renters who are there

3) May be a good idea for the tenants collectively to consult an attorney anyway
