Exclamation Harrassment in the workplace

I work in Minnesota. I just found out that a manager went to a new employee (less then 6 hours on the job) and told her that he is pretty much fed up with me at the work place. This is a manager that I do not report to and this is a manager that I do not go to if I have a problem. He shut his door with the new employee in his office so that I could not hear what he was saying at the time. It made the new employee very uncomfortable. They new employee came to me volunteering the information and then went to her manager and reported the incident. I later found out that the next day he did call my manager, with his door open to his office with another employee outside his door at the filing cabinets, which he knew she was there because he was making her file, and told her snce he has come to work for the company, I have been very dis-respectful to him and that I do not complete my paper work on time, and that I do not do the things that he DEMANDS me to do. This, again is a manager that I do not report to. What, if anything, can I do to remedy this situation? I do not want to work under these conditions. I am wondering if there is anything legally I can do. Is this defamation of character or is this harrassment in the workplace? Can some one please advise.

This is neither defamation nor illegal harassment, based on the information you have posted.

Have you discussed this with the manager you DO report to? If not, that would be the first step.
