When HUD issued a decision that you have no reasonable case for discrimination and gives you up to two years to file a civil action. While I know they consider you a lame duck; however, do you require a lawyer to file the civil and if the incident took place in Oregon, can you apply to any federal court within the district and I am thinking that Southern California is in the same district as Oregon. Thank you.

Well Or and CA may be in the same appellate court circuit, but different district courts. I suggest that you visit http://www.uscourts.gov and click on links to finding courts and there is a map and click on OR and CA to find out what appeals circuit court and district courts they belong in. Keep in mind that there are many federal district courts in CA.

In theory, one does not need an attorney to file a civil suit on their own behalf.
However, if you can't figure out which court to file in then you are probably going to have bigger problems later on w/out an attorney. I suggest seeing an attorney. |

Thanks for your advice. The problem I am having is that every attorney that I have contacted have refused to take my case. The action would contest HUD ruling of "No Cause Determination". I get the impression that lawyers feel that it is a waste of their time. I will contact the bar to get their opinion.

I would like to start from beginning but would not like to have it exposed to all on the site. Is this possible? Thanks.
