THe father of my daughter was stationed here at Fallon, NAS, Nevada. I have been fighting my child support case almost two years. Now he is stationed on the USS Reagan in California. My case worker through the child support enforcement said I should write the Commanding Officer, which I did so he would understand. He threw the letter and the copied paper work I sent them to some legal chief, not anything on the ship. He never responded. The first of July and August he started paying because my daughter's father was advised to pay through a voluntary allotment through the NAVY finance service. Which is 450.00. That doesn't really help me much because I still have the medical bills he should pay. I couldn't get his name on. I have trouble getting him served on ship, installation, and in California. I don't want to close my case in Nevada. From what I have heard in California they have a law that was enforced this year that I can't go back for back child support or passed medical bills from her father. Does anyone know if that is true??? I won't close my case in NV because if I do it in CA the time for two years almost will probably re-start again. I keep in contact with my daughter's father through e-mail. I was also told that if he comes to NV I can serve the papers in the state and he can't refuse. He says he will come visit. I also keep receiving some advice from legal chief I should file small claims, I am thinking that it was difficult right now to get him served and get a judgement still I won't file small claims and I can't afford it. When I asked the Navy legal chief about it he said you had no legal agreement about the bills, but on the affidivit he says you may be responsible for medical expenses of the mother's pregnancy and the birth of the child. Or any other medical expenses that occurred. how would I go about that? Her father signed the affidivit to have his name on the birth certificate. So he is responsible for half the medical bills. I have been paying all everything and he hasn't paid anything since she was born OCT. 2003.
