Default overtime with a salary

I am a Junior Application Programmer and make 53,000 a year. I also work on average 10 hours overtime a week. Does my company need to pay me time and 1/2

If you are an EXEMPT employee, then no OT is requried.

Here is a site for EXEMPT status determination; or ask your Manager or Personnel dept. of your status.

I don't have the authority to hire/fire
I make more then $155 a week.
I make a salary, but have to put in 40 hours a week. If I don't work for 40 hours, then I have to take vacation time to make up to 40 hours
