Greetings,
I am considering going back to college in the fall. I pay support now based on a 25k income. If I go back to school and get a part time job to cover basic expenses, can I get rerated to my lesser income or will I still be liable for the support amount required by my highest level of income? If I have a 10k income through a part time job while I'm in school, and have to pay support on my 25k income, I just may jump off a bridge. Thanks in advance! JW |

You can always file to request a reduction in child support based on returning to school, but I doubt you would get it since you are going to be working and receiveing financial aid. The court can look at actual income or what the income should be if a parent is voluntarily underemployed.
