    Post Landlord-Tenant law links

Landlord Tenant law links compiled – February 22, 2014

At this time this covers every state in the United States, but only one of the Trust Territories (Puerto Rico). The Trust Territories are so unique and diverse, the laws and traditions are not easy to find, and once found for a non-native to interpret. I will add them when I have the opportunity.

A question has been asked about including other countries, and while that may be attempted, for now they will not be included. To find your state you can either scroll down OR you can press <ctrl> F to bring up the "Find" bar in your browser and then add whatever you are looking for.

Not much information is available for the AVI unfortunately.

You will see that some states have more links than others. That's out of my hands. I will not include links to private/for-profit sites. On the other hand I will provide links to verified non-profit or government sites. And unfortunately, some states are either archaic with either their internet sites or, like with Wyoming, the laws themselves are out dated. A tenant cannot have a home without a landlord, at the same time a landlord cannot exist without tenants. Supply and demand, and you will always have more demand than supply in the housing market (though this may not hold true in come communities).

A word of caution- there are sites out there claiming to help the tenant, when in reality they do not. I have seen several sites (and help shut down at least one) that are, if anything there for specifically either their members or landlords. Please do not interpret that as me saying that landlords are bad, because they aren't. I used to be one and likely will again soon. And whenever a landlord needs assistance I and my fellow senior members will help them as best as we can. We do not pick and choose here.

However, just as there are good tenants and bad tenants, the same for landlords. No one is perfect, and yeah the landlord is out to make money just as much as the tenant is trying to save money.

I found in my experience on all sides of the issue (landlord/property manager/tenant) THE best way to prevent any problems is for open and honest communications and respecting one another. But you won't have that in life, because you have jerks and morons everywhere you go. So my advice to you, no matter the role you have, is be the best person you can be. Be honest and be truthful.

I think I’m done, but if you know of other links, please PM me and I will see to it that they are verified and added at the earliest opportunity! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask in private message or in the open in the forum. I do not spend a lot of time here, so if I can’t help you I know one of the other senior members can. And we will do what we can to help you.

I don't believe what I write, and neither should you. Information furnished to you is for debate purposes only, be sure to verify with your own research.
Keep in mind that the information provided may not be worth any more than either a politician's promise or what you paid for it (nothing).
I also may not have been either sane or sober when I wrote it down.
Don't worry, be happy. is a good resource!
