I live in Washington State, my ex wants to take my son to Arizona. Are there any laws prohibiting this action?

I don't know about Washington State laws, but, California family law states that the party wishing to take the child to another state to live has to get permission from the other parent. The parent who is not moving has to prove that the move will be detrimental to the child. If they can't, then the other parent can move the child out of state. It is so screwed up down here. It is disgusting. I have no faith in the Family Law system down here. Check online to see what the law specifically states for Washington. I wish you the best of luck.

I am going to assume the ex was in Washington too. You need to consult the Washington child support guidelines. Usually, if the parents cannot agree about a move, they will go to the court who will schedule a hearing to hear the matter. Also, this may affect child support in terms of who pays what for travel and maybe you may get more extensive visitation during holiday periods and summer months if your ex moves out of state. Try to work it out with your ex, but if not, go to the court and seek modification of the custody order for you to get more extensive visitation and to have child support adjusted if you get the child for a month or more in the summer months.
