I live in Florida & am due in June. I am a bartender & have been there for 2 years. Am I entitled to maternity leave? They told me they would fill my shifts in for a week & let me keep the money, but if I'm not back after a week I don't get anything.

If your employer has at least 50 employees in a 75 mile radius, you may be eligible for the federal Family Medical Leave. Under FMLA, you can take up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave per year. If your employer doesn't qualify, you don't have any other options unless it has at least 15 employees AND it provides for extended leave for persons who are not pregnant. In other words, if they are treating you differently because you are pregnant.
