    Default Exempt Furlough Illinois

I was told that there wasn't enough work to keep everyone busy before the furlough took effect. Yet they are mandating that we come in and work weekends. We have not had the last furlough week yet. Is mandating exempt (salaried) employees to work weekends legal after putting company on 3 week furlough?

    Yes.

It is legal to mandate either exempt or non-exempt employees to work whenever the employer has a need for them. Furloughs are irrelevant.

You have to work whenever your employer needs you to (ie hrs., days) unless you have a binding employment contract to the contrary.
