Recently a friend was fired from his State Job. He was hired on a 6 month probationary period. Prior to the end of the 6 month probationary period, he was given a test. He was instructed to get into an agency vehicle (chevy impala) and put on the seat belt. Due to his size, he was not able to complete the task and was fired. The reason given was that he was not able to safely operate an agency vehicle. He was performing his regular duties, but would take his own vehicle (Chevy Tahoe) to the various job locations.
Isn't this discrimination against a medical condition? During that probationary period I understand you can be let go for any reason as long as it is not discriminatory. Thanks In Advance for your help. |
