Default Fired in Utah

Hello. Quick question trying to find out something on the Utah labor laws here in Utah. I was fired on 03/24/2008. I had been written up on 03/18/2008 for a violation of company policy. It was a final warning and I was told that I would loose my job if it happened again. Now this was on the 18th. Then on the 24th they brought me into the supervisor’s office and told me that they got the report for up to the 17th and they were letting me go because they showed I have violated company policy. Isn’t this what they wrote me up for on the 18th? I know Utah is a right to work state and they can fire me for any reason as long as it does not violate there own policy on how they handle termanations.

Utah is an "at will" state. Meaning they can teminate you at anytime for any or no reason with or without warning. The exceptions would be if the termination violated any law ( I see no such violation) or if a contract or cba exists. You mention neither

Common misunderstandings
. Emancipation is not easy and seldom granted
. You cannot choose to remove another parents rights
. Unfair is not illegal and does not always quailfy as wrongful termination

Sounds like they uncovered additional violations of company policy they were unaware of when they disciplined you on 3/18. Yes, they were free to terminate your employment.

P.S. Right to work means you can't be forced to join a union.
