I work in a plant that requires maintence to work 6 days a week. The unit manager is making all maintence employees go home early for 2 hrs during the week and cutting 2 hrs off of our overtime. Is this legal?
The production employees are sometimes sent home during the week and then are required to work on Saturday and get paid overtime for how many hrs they work. I also only receive 80 hours of vacation time (2 weeks) even though I always worked 48 hours , is this right? ![]() Last edited by ved1968; 02-02-2007 at 05:02 PM. Reason: left something out |

The employer is absolutely entitled to arrange your schedule so that you do not work overtime. No law in any state gives you the guaranteed right to work as many hours as you want. The employer sets the schedule, not you. If they want you to limit your hours to 40 in a week so that no overtime is due, they are absolutely within their rights to do so.
How much vacation anyone receives is a matter of company policy, not law. There is no law dictating that you ever receive vacation, let alone how much. |
