11 months ago I retained an attorney to help recover money owed to me by a former employer. To date little action seems to have been taken by this attorney; the most recent was back in May '06 , when I signed the complaint form which was supposed to be filed at the Attorney General's office. After calling the AG, was informed that this complaint has neve been filed. Left several messages and e-mails to my attorney (which I can account for) , who throughout this matter has been extremely negligent in even responding to these, to the point where I feel I am being avoided. Most recently, have left 4 messages in the past two weeks , with no response.
Would anyone here agree (especially those of you who practice law)that this is grossly unprofessional, and is not acting in the interests of the client?
I am wondering to what extent any recourse I may have in regards to this in terms or reporting this , possibly recovering my retainers fees, etc. And what repercussions this may have towards the attorney.
If the scenario were that I continue with this attorney, if they were willing, my confidence that he would act in my beat interests are suspect,no?
