Default Boss who is holding a grudge in New Hampshire

My wife said her supervisor instructed her department to use her home phone if they couldn't make it to work BUT it is a unlisted number and do not give it out. Well, Jan 1, 2006 my wife got a phone call from her work looking for her boss tel #. We received the phone call at 5:30 am. It woke us up. My wife unintentionally gave her boss tel # to the 3rd shift supervisor. After a few minutes my wife realized she shouldn't have given out her boss tel #. Her boss has hardly talked to her since that day. It is now nearly 9 months ago. Why can this boss not have her tel # at work so they can call her when she needs to be notified if a employee calls in sick. This is a nursing home. What kind of harassment is this. Can her boss continue treating her like she does. A cold shoulder. My wife wants to quit.

You haven't described anything that remotely qualifies as harassment. I agree that this disagreement about the phone number sounds petty; but it does not fall under unlawful discrimination or harassment.

If there is a senior manager or HR department present, I'd suggest that she make the issue known. It's likely the problem could be resolved internally. Other than that, the other solution is to find a new job. If she's unhappy, this may be the best the option for your wife.

Is a union present? If yes, she may want to consider filing a grievance.
