    Question emancipation is it legal in New York???? New York

    Ok, I know a fifteen yr old who will soon be sixteen. Now she doesn't get along with her Gaurdians(aunt and Uncle) and the y don't really get along with her. This young girl tries her best to get along with her gaurdians, and is always depressed because, they always put her down. So my question is; can she be emancipated when she turns 16? And how long will it take (to emancipate her) if it's allowed?

    Not in NY, no. NY does not have any court proceeding for legal emancipation of a minor. The only way she can legally leave her home is if she has her guardians' consent.
