It is important to get in writing their EXACT reason for not giving what you feel is a deserved raise.
It is not legal to discriminate based on your maternity leave -- however you will need to back this up with documentation on your end. Get what you can in writing as to your actual performance, before the leave and after and see if they match up with your actual performance.
