Anyone but me read the personal history by A.M. Holmes, 'The Mistress's
Daughter' in the current New Yorker? I loved it.
As I was reading it, I totally thought 'This is what I've been missing,
being away from alt.a for so long!' but then I googled Holmes' name in
this group and couldn't find anything.
So maybe she's posted/is posting here, but under a different name? I'd
like to think so. Her story reminds me of some of the better ones I've
heard, and some of the better discussions I've been a part of here and
in real life with people from here (not better as in 'positive outcome',
better as in well said and smart).
Her article is very well written and has a few phrases and paragraphs
that really struck me as incredibly insightful (I can go into more
detail if anyone's interested). To me it wasn't at all treacly and
surely not woundy, which is of course great in my opinion. I really
hope to read more by her.
If any of you have this magazine (or can grab a copy over this week or
so) I'd love to hear what you think.
