    Default begging for a living

i have been unemployed for several years due to chronic health condition
that is permanent, has no cure

even though i have a business degree i'm pretty much unemployable now due to
long term unemployment. i dont even get called on interviews, i cant even
get a job through job agency

i have maxed out all my credit cards to pay rent and food and am about to be
    homeless

i have heard people say some beggars can make as much as 200 or 300 a day

do you think this is a good idea? i am in such a bad state it might be my
only source of income till i die

my only concern is could i get in trouble with the law?

Why not talk with a full time beggar?

    Seriously.

I sit and talk with them all the time when I'm downtown. Pull
up and cop a squat on the park bench next to 'em. I'll share
my lunch or a smoke or just some conversation.

I'm sure you find that most are lucky to generate 10% of
the revenue figures you mention above -- on a GoodDay, and
on a BadDay, will make literally nothing.

They'll have the inside track on the local law enforcement
scene, shelters, food banks, etc. and can answer your
    questions.

    To answer your question -- no I don't think it's a good
idea. I do think, however, if you find some street folks
and get to know 'em real well, you'll understand for yourself
why it's not such a GoodIdea. Only you can judge for
yourself. Make it your mission to talk with three full-time
beggars a week for the next week or three.

To tell you, honestly, if you're looking at this *seriously*,
then "trouble with the law" could be just what you need.
They'll put you up in a heated/air-conditioned room for
two, with 3 meals a day, healthcare, dental, gym, excercise
yard -- you get it. "Three hots-and-a-cot" from the local
county jail would surely beat living on the streets.

He should apply for disability. Most states won't give welfare to men, and
those that do don't pay ejnough to live on.

One problem. They turn down everyone the first couple times. You could be
paralized from the neck down and get turned down for disability. It will
probably take more than a year before he gets his first check.

What sort of trouble that all the other people who are begging on the
side of the road don't seem to get into?

Show me ONE state in the US - ANY state in the US that offers welfare
or food stamp benefits for single people without children. IT DOESN'T
EXIST. If you aren't dragging a couple of illigetimate hump dumplings

It's an obvious troll. Selling your computer and giving up your
Internet connection might feed you for one day, but it will not pay
your rent/mortgage, put food on your table, clothes on your back, pay
for doctors/medicines/hospital, etc. etc. etc. for the rest of your
    life.

If it could, there would be nobody online.

It's hard to believe that no temp or job agency will place you in any type
of employment. The temp agencies around here will just about accept anyone
who truly wants to work regardless of past employment history, experience,
physical condition... but screw them over on assignments too many times by
not coming in or complaining and they will blacklist you quick. Local temp
agencies usually "talk" among themselves, so screw one over and none of them
may want you. Don't expect good pay or easy conditions, but if you truly
want to work and make money some temp agency will hire you.

Also, think of your hobbies and interests and how you could possibly make a
buck doing them. Everyone does at least one thing well.

And the trend of unlimited internet access for a low price became popular

You have been unemployed because you were caring for your terminally-ill
aunt in South Dakota. Cancer is good, you can probably find a story on
    the net to appropriate.
i have maxed out all my credit cards to pay rent and food and am about to behomeless
Learn to act crazy. See below.
Better apply for welfare .. that's what its for.
Somebody told you that you couldn't do both?

How? All they can do is roust you or give you an overnight stay until
you sober up, if necessary. Make up a fake name and don't carry your
driver's license. Let THEM prove you don't live in the shrubbery by the
    underpass.

Maybe if you stand in the middle of a freeway overpass with a WILL JUMP
FOR FOOD sign you could make more than just looking pitiful at an
    off-ramp.

There's a local loon who threatens to jump from freeway overpasses every
couple of months or so. One of the cops now specializes in people like
this. The cop talks him down/off, they clean him up, hold him for psych
evaluation for a couple of weeks and then turn him loose. I've read
about at least a dozen of his attempts. He did actually jump once,
smashed his foot-bones and was fitted with prosthetic devices at public
expense. If I saw him I'd start chanting JUMP JUMP JUMP just to see
what happens. He's clearly a danger to the public as well as himself
and ought to be locked up somewhere. Period.

i have been unemployed for several years due to chronic health condition that is permanent, has no cure even though i have a business degree i'm pretty much unemployable now due to long term unemployment. i dont even get called on interviews, i cant even get a job through job agency i have maxed out all my credit cards to pay rent and food and am about to be homeless i have heard people say some beggars can make as much as 200 or 300 a day do you think this is a good idea? i am in such a bad state it might be my only source of income till i die my only concern is could i get in trouble with the law?
You mean you plan to cheat on your income tax? Begging is legal in
some places but not reporting it as income is illegal.

Better apply for welfare .. that's what its for.Joel'
Show me ONE state in the US - ANY state in the US that offers welfare or food stamp benefits for single people without children. IT DOESN'T EXIST. If you aren't dragging a couple of illigetimate hump dumplings along, the US of A would just as soon watch you starve and freeze to death. They only care about FAMBLIES, don't you know?
In New York State a single person earning a gross monthly income
of $973 a month is eligable for $141 in food stamps. I didn't
bother with checking the other 49 since you asked for just one.

like the jerk who wants to be a professional beggar, you'll need to find things out for yourself

Oh.. OK... I could really care less about the header... I thought that you
    were volunteering your services though.

It's an obvious troll. Selling your computer and giving up your Internet connection might feed you for one day, but it will not pay your rent/mortgage, put food on your table, clothes on your back, pay for doctors/medicines/hospital, etc. etc. etc. for the rest of your life. If it could, there would be nobody online. CompuServe used to charge like 15 bucks an hour to be online. Kept the riff-raff offline, it did.
And the trend of unlimited internet access for a low price became popular and the "riff-raff" was everywhere on the internet, eventually becoming out of hand. A perfect example is Bill Bonde
I don't have to be told not to take a leak in the corner, like in that
    movie.

You have a computer and Internet access - why not work from home? Lots
    of people telecommute full time.

Don't laugh. Become a Tibetan or a Falungong monk. Becoming a Hare
Krishnan devotee works too. You will get to beg professionally and be
respected for doing it. The hours and meals are regular and you get
to go back to a warm place to shower and to sleep.
