Unhappy Mental Harassment Ohio

Hi,

I need your help.I have a friend who is her on on a J-1 Visa. She is here for the last one year. Then one of her colleagues also came to Ohio on the same visa. They knew each other as my friend has helped him during his studies. The problem my friend is facing is that this guy is harassing her mentally. He has told everyone around him and her friends that she is his fiancee. And has told my friend that he will marry her only. My friend has no feeling for him and she has told him as well about the same. He keeps on harassing her, never leaves her alone and never lets her speak to anyone. At time he has even beaten her and slapped her. She is very terrified and doesn't know what to do. She is worried as this may impact her visa status if she complains about him. She is terrified to the core that it has started impacting her work and personal life. Please guide me and suggest me what can be done in this case.

If this is occurring at work, has your friend reported this to Human Resources?

Relative to the physical abuse, your friend should make a police report. Being a victim of a crime does not jeopardize your friend's visa status.
