Red face Overtime only after 10hrs a day? or $100 shifts?? New York

I currently work down town manhattan in a pretty famous, high standard bakery as a chef, i started to notice on my paychecks i do not get time and a half after 40hrs, i was told we work $100 per shift (10hr shifts) and overtime after that,

is this legal>????

That depends. There are something like 100 or so possible Exempt classifications. I can think of maybe three that you maybe/possibly might be subject to:
- Do you have degrees from fancy cooking schools and does your job give you a great deal of freedom to create new dishes and such? If so, possible Professional exception.
- Do you supervise at least two full time employees (or equivalents)? If so, possible Executive exception.
- Do you do enough high end administrative stuff to qualify for the Administrative exception?

Please note that based on what little you have said so far, any of those things, or none of the things could be true. I will include a pointer to the so-called White Collar exceptions, which will explain the rules in more detail.
