Gas Company Profit

Notes and Sources

Gas Profit Counter

The calculations used to create the gas profit counter were based on the quarterly profits from the top 5 gas companies which include, Exxon, Shell, Chevron, BP, and Total S.A. The counter will be updated whenever new data becomes available. The current value of the counter is based on the values from 2003 to the latest quarter of 2006. Then to account for the missing data from the last value in 2006 up until now, data was extrapolated and an estimation of the profit made per month was calculated and then added to the available values. In order for the counter to constantly update itself, an average profit per second was calculated, which serves as the increment for the counter.
