You have much more than we sent off.
What covering letter? We didn't send any covering letter. I think our
statements said enough. We did send a statement detailing what our plans
are once we hit Australian shores. Living arrangements and job plans
    etc... but that's it.

Covering letters are useful if you need to add in any more relevant
information, eg that you maybe going to Oz on an ETA imminently so they
do not grant your visa whilst you are away. A covering letter is not
essential and the TOC will do.

Are the birth certificates full versions with parents details on?
Abbreviated birth certificates are not accepted by DIMIA.

Other than that it looks good.

We've only just sent it off so not heard anything yet. We are
actually still waiting for PCC to arrive as well. But as hubby is
having to travel to Oz in the next few weeks we wanted to delay grant
          of visa anyway.

Not true. My recent application for a spouse visa was successful and the
Birth Certificate I provided was the "short" version.

You were lucky! I'm sure somewhere it specifies that it needs to be the
              full birth cert.

                Hi

Brand new here, probably in the wrong place but hey you have to start
                somewhere!

I am in process of putting DeFacto application together, and want my
Mother (UK) to give her opinion on our relationship - she has met my
partner (we live in Perth, WA) twice and her family, so her opinion
should count? - but as she has no Australian citizenship cannot fill out
standard 888 Stat Dec, so I thought of just writing a standard one and
getting her to get it signed in UK etc - or is it not that simple, and /
or is there a pre-printed blank stat-dec which looks more official.

                Many thanks,
                Simon

PS Many thanks also for all the TOC's very usefull!!! - and a bit
                daunting!

There isn't an "official" offshore stat dec. You can either get your
mother to write a letter stating how she sees your relationship etc or
you can do a stat dec saying the same but getting it certified. Both
work. First option is free - provided your mother doesn't charge you.

And yes her opinion will count.

Sorry, thought I had attached a stat dec we used but haven't - if you
want it pm me or do a search - a few have been posted over the years.

Many thanks for getting back to me. I would appreciate the stat-dec if
                    you have it handy!

Does anyone know what the chances of getting PR straight away rather
than the temporary spousal visa are? A million-to-one or are there
                    stories of better odds?

                    Cheers,
                    Simon

                      You get PR if;
You've been together 2 years and have children
you've been together 5 years and dont have children

other than that, its 2 year TR like the rest of us (its actually not a
                      real problem)
