  • Sewage Backup in Basement Illinois

Eleven days ago, my wife and I celebrated purchasing our first home together. All was well for the first few days, sure we had a few leaky faucets, but nothing to get upset about.

Two days ago I walked down in my basement only to find that the sewer line had backed up. At first I didn't think that it would be a big deal, after all we had requested that the seller provide us with a home warantee through HMS Home Warantee's (recomended by our real estate agent). As it turns out the warantee does not cover any pipes in or under ground.

So at this point I'm faced with a pretty heafty bill to replace the sewer line. Now comes the question. Do I have any recourse with the seller, or am I just up the proverbial creak without a paddle?
