    SSN Idiocy !!!!

We got married in North Carolina, and I didn't have SSn then, neither I
had applied for it. The official at the court house asked me to sign an
affidavit that I'm not eligible for SSN (at the time of applying for
marriage license). I signed it and we were given marriage license.

You might wanna call another county in Iowa as well. Hope it works
    out for you.

        SSN Idiocy !!!!

Our marriage license is from PA.

They requested both our ssn. Sweetie gave his (from memory, but they
requested to see his card) and then I said I had applied for it but not
given it yet. They asked why I didn't have one, I explained I was a
foreigner on a k-1 visa, they said ok and asked for 2 valid ID's.

I gave passport, k-1 visa, birth certificate, driver's license,
university student ID and voter's registry card (I like to be prepared).
She only took my passport and driver's license.

I also had to show her my divorce decree.

The fee was $40 dlls, it was ready in 3 days, and it was good for 60
        days.

Can't you guys go away to a different state for the weekend? Pick
somewhere nice and stay at a B&B while you apply for a marriage license
        and get married...

We sortof did that. Philadelphia justices of the peace where all tied up
for the next 3 months. Both my marriage license and k-1 visa would've
expired waiting for a judge to marry us in City Hall. So we phoned a few
different places and found a small town mayor willing and able to marry
us whithin a week about an hour away.
