  • Interum EAD in Indianapolis 6/10/04

ANOTHER trip to Indy. We had fears. Their computers could have been
down like they were when we went up the 1st time. (Luckily, that time we
didn't need the computers.) Simon wasn't sure what day this wk federal
employees got off work for Ronald Reagan's death, so it could have been
today. But it all went fine!

We left about 20 minutes later than I
wanted, but we still got there around 9am. He took a number & we sat.
We were #63, and they were on #55. But the numbers went by quickly, cuz
about 15 minutes later, they called him up to the window. She gave him
a blank copy of the EAD application to fill out & take back to her.
(Had we known that, we would have just brought a photocopy of the one
    already mailed to them. *wink*)

After he gave it to her, he sat back
down & waited about 20 more minutes. Then they took him back. When he
was done, they told him to have a seat and it would be ready for him in
    about 2 minutes.

And that's pretty much how it went. We were in and
out in about an hour, maybe a little less. And now he's legal to work!
We gotta apply for his SS# today.

The interum EAD is about the size of
a driver's license, but it looks TOTALLY fake, as the type on it is all
off-center (some letters are UNDER his picture) and not dark *at all*.
Very weird. It's good till Feb '05 (IIRC).

      Vik,

Congratulations to Simon, and good luck to him now in a job
      search.

Speaking of the EAD looking like a driver's license - how is he
doing, or how did he do, on that front? My wife's has a permit now and
is attending a driving school - both to prep her for the written test
and to introduce her to American driving habits, which differ
considerably from those of her native country. While going through the
permit process she's nevertheless driving around on her own with the
international license that she brought with her.

      Regards, JEff

Of course, the Internet also tells us that hot naked women want to befriend us, so we can't be 100% sure about everything we read there. (Dave Barry)

        Congrats on your successful trip!!

        Your description of the interim
EAD sounds just like my previous 1 yr EAD. It looked soooo fake, and
there were two dark smudges on my photo that made me look like I had
fangs!!! The new design is much better. Well done for investing a bit
of extra cash for those, USCIS!!!

        Congrats again, Simon&Vik!!!!
