  • Why do the first posts in a thread have ads in them???

I posted a question today, and when it went up, there was a big blank space before my typed text. I went back to edit, and I thought I got rid of the big blank space, but now it's there, and filled up with an advertisement! I don't want anyone to think I posted the ad, or that I'm a spammer.

I just looked at a few other threads, and they have the same problem.

Is this something new that was started for a reason, or is it a glitch?

We are looking into issues at this time, if anyone could email these issues to my email with/out a screen shot that would help for I know what to look for.

Please PM your email address to me. I took a screen shot, but I can't figure out how to attach it to a PM, and if I click on the option to e-mail you, it's just a form that doesn't allow attachments.

The advertising layouts have changed a lot recently. Maybe this is related. Unrelated to that on Sunday I got dragged off this website to some other website that tried to get my to sign up for something. That happened several times, but not since. I am guessing maybe whoever runs the ads on this website is experimenting.

I understand the site needs ads to survive, but they used to be out of the way. Now it looks like the OP in every thread is selling something. I don't like to post a question and have it look like I'm pushing a certain law firm or poster company.

I wasn't expecting a "free lunch." I just wish the ads could be in any other place besides within our posts. I mean, smack-dab in the middle of the top of the page isn't enough?

I just saw this thread - I am having same problem & had notified Ronaldg previously.

(ads in first post of thread)

I noticed the same thing when I logged in on Monday after not viewing on the weekend. I assumed the ads in the first post were a marketing move.

I sent Ron a screen shot of what it looks like to us, but when he looks at the site, he doesn't see the ads within the posts. His only suggestion is to upgrade our browsers to Google Chrome. But since most of us are at work and dependent on an IT dept for stuff like that, I guess we'll just have to put up with it. Our system is set up so that non-IT people can't download any programs/applications.

I sure hope LLT is making more money now, with more screen space now devoted to ads. Otherwise all it's accomplishing is annoying the users.

I wonder if some new posters/members coming on to post a question for the first
time can see them in their posts?

                          Spammers revenge?

                          I think we’ve been hacked!
Today I noticed the drugs forum has been completely wiped out, nothing but ads for buying Viagra, Tramdol and Soma online which BTW, is illegal to do without a prescription and usually are fake anyway or who knows whats in them!.
The get around is you’re redirected to a web sight to someone who claims to be a ‘doctor’ you answer a half dozen questions if that many, PAY for the “examination” pay for the drugs, pay for shipping and handling then in a week or two or three MAYBE you’ll get your dope in the mail.
How do I know all of this you wonder?
My [email protected] doper nephew tried it.
A $45 bottle of Soma wound up costing his Dad $116.79 (he used his Dads credit card) who answered the door when they came, and they turned out to be vitamins!!

This is the kind of crap I use to get in my email accounts until I set my spam filters on "kill anything that moves"
I’d also be willing to bet that it’s no accident that certain people can’t see these ads, there are some pretty smart spammers out there, maybe its an inside job.

And thank you no, I don’t care to upgrade my browser to take care of a problem that is not mine to begin with!
I’ve tried that before and my tired old confuser just can’t take the shock!

                          ..............!!!

I can't see any threads in the drug forum either. When I click on drugs, all I
                            get are ads.
