  • 14(almost 15) dating a 18 year old Maryland

Im 14 years old about to turn 15 in June. I am dating a 18 year old boy that goes to my school. My parents know about him and meet him and they were okay with it ....his parents are okay with it to but his dad is worried about the laws cause he doesnt want him to go to jail. I thought the law in maryland was that you can date a 18 year old but with parents supervision and permission. I think it is only illegal if you have sex. But I dont know if I am right or wrong. Can you please tell me what the Maryland State Laws are for dating a 18-year old.?????thank you

Sexual contact can mean any touching or communications about touching that arouses or excites the child (that's you).

Basically, no hugging, kissing, touching, groping....

Pretend you are in the front pew of church on Christmas morning.
Not everything that makes you mad, sad or uncomfortable is legally actionable.

I am not now nor ever was an attorney.

Any statements I make are based purely upon my personal experiences and research which may or may not be accurate in a court of law.

Who are you? You did not post the original question.

If your girlfriend is a minor, you cannot touch her at all until she is 18, not 16.

Reaching the age of consent does not make her any less of a minor, and it is illegal for an adult to have sexual contact with a minor.

As long as her parents give consent and you do nothing more stimulating than breathing the same air in the room and talk of nothing more exciting than her geometry homework. If her parents change their minds at any time, the relationship is over.

Basically, not unless you want him to end up in jail.

i know i didn't start this topic, but i found this website; http://www.peoples-law.org/youth/when/consent.htm to me, that says as long as you don't have sexual intercourse it is legal, as long as you give consent. i'm in the same situation as the topic starter except i'm 15 and he just turned 18 4 days ago. i really want to be with him! HELP ME?

Dating is fine as long as both sets of parents say it is okay and you never have any kind of sexual contact. Yes, sexual contact includes kissing.

Asked her out on the school network. Wow. You take cyberstalking to a whole new level.

Please tell me that you weren't 18 and she wasn't 14 when it happened.

                            Not Cyberstalking

how would that be considered stalking if I didn't know where she was, who she was with or anything... I did it on a whim... but I definitely got to know her first... I don't go through hell and back for just anyone... that's not how love works... if it is... then you're desperate.

Kid, you have absolutely no idea what the term "hell and back" means. Trust me on that one.

Just because you had to break up with someone else first and THEN ask her parents for formal permission doesn't mean you took a bullet for her.

I was being silly, but using MY tax dollars to ask out your prepubesent girlfriend is stupid and creepy at the same time.
