Abandoned baby goes to foster care

A newborn left at a city hospital under Texas' Baby Moses law was released
    Wednesday afternoon.

The baby boy, named Christopher Scott Doe by caseworkers, was born about two
hours before his mother took him to University Hospital on Monday, according to
the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The infant weighed 8
pounds and measured 21 inches long.

His mother said he was born at home and she could not take care of him.

The infant remained under observation at the hospital for 48 hours before
leaving Wednesday afternoon with a Child Protective Services caseworker.

From there, the baby was taken to foster parents.

The Baby Moses law allows a parent to leave a child under 60 days old at a fire
station, hospital or safe haven without threat of criminal prosecution.
