  • Paternity test results- CA

I have a friend, alleged father, whom scheduled, and paid for the paternity test. the results came back and he was not the father.
he was very upset because the facility emailed the mother the results before him, and he was the main person on the account. I told him because she is the legal guardian of the child, she may have the right to access those results, but am unsure. he is very upset at the situation, and feels if she wanted the results she should have had to get a court order for the results to be released.

so I guess my question is:

if an alleged father sets up and pays for the paternity test, does the mother of the child have legal access to the results without going through the alleged father?

If you are looking for a law dictates who is supposed to get the results first, there isn't one.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
