  • About Sole Custody

    Hello,
I Live in Alberta, Canada, My soon to be ex husband has agreed for me to have sole custody. what sort of visitation does this grant him? And will it be at my discretion? Also does his family (Sisters, mother etc) have any sort of visitation rights?

    Thankyou

Grandparents can request their own visitation rights in many states. It is hoped that the families will work in the best interest of the child to appropriately allow family contacts and family relationships to form. It may be wise to have the father's visitation spelled out by the court in terms of vacations and holidays. I am typically considering this would be 2-4 weeks vacation in the summer and some type of alternating holiday schedule. But generally, this should be worked out between the parents to allow some visitation to maintain a parental bond since this sounds like a reasonable parent.
