  • Told about raise but still don't have it

I'm in the State of Washington. I received my performance review January 2005 and was told what the associated pay raise should be. As of now, July 2005, still no increase. Do I have a "leg to stand on" in requesting the increase?

You certainly can request it. However, unless you have a binding contract that guarantees a pay increase, they are not obligated to provide one, and unless you have a binding contract that guarantees a pay increase at particular times, even if they provide an increase they do not have to make it retroactive.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
