  • Commission Chargeback California

If we have a commission advance that is being charged back, would I just deduct the gross amount of the charge back from the gross amount of the next commission advance?

The employee already paid taxes on it in the initial advance, so it should net out the same, correct?

I just want to make sure that we are not taxing the employee twice or not taxing them correctly.

Example. Bob is paid an estimate (advance) on commissions of $1K gross. We later determine that it should be $2.5K. Pay an additional $1.5K gross.
