  • required breaks and lunches in missouri? Missouri Missouri Missouri

What are the rules in missouri for and 8hr shift regarding breaks or no breaks, paid breaks or not paid breaks. lunch paid or not paid?

  • #2
There are none. Missouri law leaves it entirely up to the employer whether to offer breaks or lunches, and if so, for how long. This remains true regardless of how long the shift is.

Federal law likewise does not require any breaks. However, IF breaks are offered, Federal law requires two things; that any breaks of under 20 minutes must be paid breaks; and that for a break to be unpaid the employee must be entirely relieved of duty.

As long as you comply with these two points, you can set a policy regarding lunch or breaks any way you like.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
