  • Questions regarding union. Michigan ( thank you for the help )

I am part of union UFCW Local 951 at a grocery store. I no longer want to pay union dues. What are my rights? Will I still have representation? I can put the $30 some dollars a month to better use. I am so ticket off at this union it isn't even funny. ( Number of stores they represent x number of employees x how much they pay a week for union dues = millions ) I want to know what the hell this union is doing with millions of dollars a year! It sure isn't going in my pocket. I am beyond ticked off that I want nothing to do with them! Every time there is new contracts it gets worse and worse for the employees! Some Employees I have talked to have been there 20 years !

Michigan became a right to work state in 2012 so I suppose you could drop your membership. What that would mean specifically to you is not something I'm prepared to respond to. You might want to run your question by either an employment attorney or a rep from the NRLB.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
