  • New company taking the contract. Do they have to accept the union. New Jersey

The company I work for contract has expired with the state. A new company was awarded the contract. The new companys proposal says they will hire 150 of the 317 current employees. Does the new company have to take on the union?

Unless there is some state law/protection on the state contracts, no they can hire whoever they want.

No they don't. They are a new entity that has just happened to say they will hire some people that were laid off.

I hope so... Unions are often put at risk in these cases, unfairly!
