  • Vacation refusal Tennessee Texas Utah Vermont

My wife is a salary employee at her place of work and was granted vacation time for June from her boss. Since then he was demoted and her new boss will not grant her the week of vacation she was promised. We have already booked hotel reversations and our daugher in flying in from overseas for that week. Is there any law protecting salary employees in this case or is she just out of luck?

Unfortunately, your wife is out of luck on this one.

Agree, the employer/boss makes the rules of when vacation can be used. It's
too bad if she told her new boss of her plans & her vacation will still not be
allowed but it is not illegal. Maybe her new boss has a good reason for denying
      vacation at that time.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Leo Buscaglia

BTW, "salaried" is only a pay method and does not grant any rights or privileges or protections in and of itself.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
