    Is an employer allowed to "drop" an employee hourly wage if the employer needs to keep his "costs" in line?
    What, if any, are the laws concerning hourly wage drop

    Yes, it is legal to drop an employee's wage. The employee must be notified of the reduction prior to working any hours at the lower rate and it cannot be dropped below minimum wage.
    The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
