  • breaks + bathroom breaks? Oregon

I work for a company whose call center seems to have some very shady break policies. They recently put out a memo that states that all bathroom break time will be added up and deducted from the "break time" that an employee is allowed to take. So, if you take two two-minute bathroom breaks, when your "break" comes around, you only get six minutes.

Since Oregon law states: "Employers must provide workers with a paid, uninterrupted 10-minute rest break for every four-hour segment or major portion thereof in the work period."

...doesn't that mean that the policy is illegal?

    Thanks.

Sounds like it to to me. Contact the BOLI.

However, most people should be able to hold it for 2 hours until the regularly scheduled break or the meal period.

I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.
