  • Teacher working conditions North Carolina

I have a question- I am employed as a teacher in NC. The county makes me participate in a "Mentoring Monday" program after school. You don't get comp time for it either. Is it legal to make a teacher work over the required work day with out additional payment?

Most teacher positions are exempt that do not pay for overtime during extra work such as tutoring of students, grading papers, and preparing lessons plans. Did you not know the extra work that might be required of a teacher before entering the profession? You did not means to say that the county makes you participate in "Mentoring Monday" program after school - you can always quite your job.
