  • Mandatory Meetings Nevada Nevada

I have a question about cutting hours to cover for the fact that we have a mandatory meeting...

Can our boss have a mandatory meeting on one day (we are a 24 hour operation) when many people have the day or those hours off and then, to cut overtime because we are so slow, tell us that we have to take off 2 other hours in the same pay-week so that we don't go over our 40 hours? All of us affected are hourly employees.

This seems tatamount to an unpaid meeting since we have to drive into town an extra time.

    thank you,

    DF

It is perfectly legal to adjust your hours so that you do not go over 40 hours, no matter how many mandatory meetings you had to drive in for.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
