  • 60-70hr/wk no choice for time off. (missouri)

[FONT=Century Gothic][SIZE=3][COLOR=Navy]My boyfriend works for a road construction company, he just recently got back to work after having layoff for the winter months. He's always working and never has time for anything, talks about his 70-80hr/wks and how he HAS to go to work this early and stay this late. When i ask him about possibly requesting a day off for some plans that were previously made it's always "depends on the weather" (the job is very much weather dependant) as if his job doesn't allow him to request off. Isn't there some law that says your allowed so many hours or days off if you've worked a certain amount of hours? A relative of mine said something about a law that says your supposed to be allowed 4 hours off for every 8hours worked...i don't know if thats true but....someone please explain this to me.

Sorry, but there is no such law.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
