  • Wore out in Mississippi

I've tried to read the Mississippi Labor laws to find my own answers with no luck. I want to inquire about whether or not Mississippi requires lunch breaks or 15 minute breaks. I work 9 hour shifts and I am an hourly employee. Currently I am not allowed to leave my work area for anything. I hope you can help me. I'm averaging 60 hours a week and I am wore out. I need these breaks and lunches during the day. You would think someone working 7 days a week could atleast get this.

Neither Federal nor Mississippi law requires breaks of any kind.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

      Labor laws

3/11/06 Oh yes , everyone that works an 8 hour shift gets at least 30 minutes for one meal and 2 15 minute breaks ! Labor Laws ! If you do not receive this you are to be compensated . it is not healthy nor is it fair to expect anyone to work with out designated breaks and this my friend is a law ! Read and know your rights !

So, suppose you post a link to that law. I'm sure it will be news to the Federal government and the state of Mississippi, both of which are under the impression that no such law exists.
