  • Terminated employees

When an employee is terminated in MA, I know that all pay (including accrued vacation time is due to them). I also heard that I must provide the employee with instructions on how to file for UI. Is this correct? And, is there anything else I need to provide? Thank you.

    Yes, that is correct.

You will ultimately need to provide them with information on their rights to COBRA, although that need not be at termination - you have 30 days to notify the adminstrator who then has 14 days to notify the employee. If you have a 401k plan, you will need to provide him with information on his options; the time frame depends on your plan documents.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.
