  • WRITTEN reason of termination Maine

In the State of Maine, is the employer required to provide WRITTEN reason of termination to an employee if it is requested by the terminated employee?

No Maine is an "at will" state

panther, I'm not sure that makes a difference. For example, Missouri requires a "letter of service" upon request of the ex-employee.

I could not find any requirement in Maine, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. Perhaps cbg can check her handy-dandy cheat sheet later.
I don't respond to Private Messages unless the moderator specifically refers you to me for that purpose. Thank you.

Well after asking my question I kept looking and found this:

When a person's employment is terminated, whether voluntarily or involuntarily, there are a number of questions that may arise. Therefore, the following subject areas should be considered.

Under Maine law, an employer must, upon written request of the affected employee, provide written reasons for the termination of that person's employment within 15 days (ME Rev. Stat. Tit. 26 Sec. 630).
