  • Auto deduction of meal breaks in Kentucky Kentucky

Is it legal to auto deduct meal periods in Kentucky? Our employer auto deducts but does adjust the time if we work any or all of our lunch period and pays us for it. We also receive a time sheet prior to our paychecks being processed to review our time and request any adjustments, we sign off on that sheet. But can my employer auto deduct to start with?

As long as they make the appropriate adjustments and you get paid for all the time you actually work, they're good. What's illegal is not auto deductions, but in failing to pay you properly.
The above answer, whatever it is, assumes that no legally binding and enforceable contract or CBA says otherwise. If it does, then the terms of the contract or CBA apply.

Agree, nothing wrong with doing it that way. You just need to be paid correctly - paid for all time worked.
Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. Leo Buscaglia
